VGA compatible debug BIOS for V1.0 and V1.1 Xbox
================================================
BETA

Intended for use with DOAX

This is a beta release. It has been tested on V1.1 and V1.0 Xbox's.
Comments specific to this release should go to this thread:
http://www.xboxhacker.net/forums/index.php?s=8a37f6f86b1e1400789c4e2224a542b0&act=ST&f=9&t=11194

Made-up FAQ:
Q: When should I use this instead of Pixel8's VGA BIOS?
A: If you are using a V1.1 Xbox, this is your only choice ATM.
If you are using a V1.0 Xbox that is in multiBIOS configuration with another mulitver BIOS, I recommend using this one

Q: Can I use IGR?
A: The debug BIOS has no built-in IGR, but team Evolution-X's dashboard can dynamically add IGR to games you play if you so choose in evox.ini. However EvoX freezes when trying to load an XBE with this setting in the debug BIOS... but hopefully this bug will be fixed sometime.

Q: When will this no longer be in the beta stage?
A: I aren't sure.

Q: What are you working on ATM?
A: A patcher to patch certain games so that they do not appear green.

Q: Which dash should I use?
A: Whatever you fancy.. edit e:\dashboard.xbx to specify the dash you wish to have loaded.
Don't be confused.. you'll see the drives are referenced a little differently. Comply with this syntax. If its all too confusing, undead (team Xecutor) documented this syntax.

Q: What about a 256KB release?
A: As long as you don't have a V1.2 Xbox, you'll be able to flash your TSOP with your cheapmod clone, matrix or whatever modchip. Therefore I don't see any need for this (Your TSOP is 1MB).

Old notes from BetaXboxVGA.nfo
==============================

--- This BETA firmware was built off of Complex Debug 1.03, a 512k image with
Debug properties made for 1.0 RETAIL XBOX ONLY. The current image has a flaw
that makes it incompatible with Component output (screen is visible but green), so it
helps to have bank select switch on your modchip, and either use the included 1 meg
image thats mixed with standard Complex 1.03, or mix the 512k image as you see fit.

(I recommend using Xecuter2 BIOS Manager to mix it with a copy of Xecuter's
x2 MultiVer (better IGR then EvoX) that has been tweaked with NghtShd's
excellent XBtool 0.8.11.1 to remove Xecuters god damned logo.)

--- Most games that dont work will be visible, but green. Examples include Splinter
Cell, Morrowind, Unreal Championship, Outlaw Golf and Buffy. Dragons Lair 3d blacks
out. Launching through boXplorer or quitting back to the dash from an App will often
result in a green display, and you must reset. (oddly Baulders Gate: Dark
Alliance will turn VGA mode back on). Individual patching may be required.

--- Horizontal and Vertical Sync are not accessible through the Xbox AVIP! :(
Unfortunately if your monitor does not accept composite sync (many do, most dont),
you will need separate the syncs from the green signal, or possibly another source.
Simple methods should be documented for future releases of PiXEL8's VGA firmware.

--- This will not work on 256k modchips (Matrix, Cheapmod, X-Elixir), it requires
an x2, PC-BioXX(OpenXBox), chameleon, or flashing the tsop. We will see VGA Enabled
256k _retail_ firmware in the future, but this is what we get for now. Unfortunately
for the scene, PiXEL8 went out and found himself a life (congrats, PiX!).

If you're running retail:
__________________________

Do not fret! This image will run all retail software*, and will boot
xboxdash.xbe by default if there is no debug software present. Just rename EvoX to
xboxdash.xbe and you're ready to flash.

*Halo requires PiXEL8s NODEBUG.EXE
*Current IGR functions are not compatible with debug

How to make a VGA cable:
_________________________

PiXEL8 first made the Xbox VGA cable in late 2001, using a standard Xbox A/V cable
and a VGA extension cord. See his VGA cable page here:

Included is a comprehensive guide (XboxVGACable.txt) and diagrams
